Family Pharmacy

I live in Springfield, MO and twice within the last eight weeks two different Family Pharmacy locations have allowed me to completely run out of my medication, and caused me to go without the medication for at least 24 hours, and made no effort at all to do any number of things that they could have done such as simply make a phone call, that would have kept me from being without my medication. In both cases I had notified them that I needed the refill at least two days in advance. The first time Family Pharmacy forced me to go without a prescribed medication I reported the incident to one of the owners who, to her credit did counsel the employees who had withheld my prescription. To my dismay though, something very similar happened at another Family Pharmacy location two months later. I have worked a lot of years as a health care professional in this town. This pharmacy and their business practices are well known to me, and I have never witnessed them causing people with diagnoses other than brain disorders to go without their medication. Both of the medications that my physician had prescribed but I was forced by Family Pharmacy to go without, happened to be for biological brain disorders. These two incidents that happened to me certainly raise questions about whether the staff holds ignorant, antiquated views about certain medical conditions, and believe that people with brain disorders don't need the medications prescribed for them as much as people with other medical issues do. The bottom line is that customers with biological brain disorders who do business at Family Pharmacy are at a definite risk of being forced by the pharmacy's staff to go without their prescribed medication. That is neither safe nor acceptable. Not all Family Pharmacy staff abuse customers but the glaring truth is that some of them do. Perhaps if I checked further I would learn that some of Family Pharmacy’s employees are so negligent that they cause people with all medical problems to go without their prescriptions, which would make this problem still worse. I would be remiss if I didn't inform the public that entrusting their well-being to Family Pharmacy can have dangerous results, and I would be remiss if I didn't inform people that some Family Pharmacy employees show a pattern of dragging their feet and taking no initiative when it comes to refilling prescriptions for people with brain disorders. This organization has shown the ability to give good customer care for a lot of years, then one horrendous experience after another started happening in early 2011. I hope for all concerned that the employees who have started giving this well-established business one black eye after another are stopped quickly.
